About me
In all areas of my professional work as a developmental psychologist and a research scientist, I discovered how strong of an impact nourishment has on human development, emotions and behavior. I’ve seen first hand that what we feed our children affects not only their health and growth, but also their learning, attention, social skills and behavior.
As a mother of two daughters, I always enjoyed healthy eating and exercise, but I wasn’t always so good at making it happen. I learned that every morning as I make decisions about how I nourish myself — physically, emotionally and mentally — I am also making choices about how I nourish my children.
After more than two decades teaching and conducting research on children’s development, a background that forms a strong foundation for health coaching, I enrolled at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Today, I’ve married my deep understanding of human development with my passion for nutrition, health and wellness. I have studied all the major dietary theories and use smart and practical lifestyle coaching methods to guide you in discovering which approach works best for you and your family.
If you know what you’d like your life to look like, but have a hard time figuring out how to make it happen, you’re not alone. That was me. But not anymore. My bio
- I was certified as holistic practitioner by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition as well as received certification from the AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners) in 2013. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts including Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Katz.
- I received my Ph.D. in developmental psychology in 1997 from Rutgers University and completed my post-doctoral training at the Pediatrics Department of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
- I devoted more than 20 years to scientific research and academic teaching at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York University and New York Institute of Technology.
- My research on children’s social and emotional development and how parenting affects children’s development has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Head Start Bureau and the Robin Hood Foundation.
- I have published my research on children’s social-emotional development and parenting in many professional journals and presented research findings both in the US and abroad.
- I have served as a consultant for many early intervention programs for parents and young children in New York City, most recently to programs serving Latino immigrant families, such as the Children’s Aid Society and Little Sisters of the Assumption.
